At any given time, I have a running list of photos I know I want to take… my version of a photo ”bucket list”- stories or scenes I picture in my head and hope to one day capture. And central to the success of any of these scenes is finding good light. I am always searching for good light.
Train-tracks-at-sunset photos have been on my to-do list for a long time. And so, I have spent many afternoons this winter looking out my window and watching the day end, hoping for a cloudless sky as the sun gets ready to slip beneath the horizon. This is a time that creates beautiful rosy light and makes skin tones glow. A time of day when there is naturally perfect light. But we’ve had a lot of cloudy sunsets lately. When I realized that I would finally have my chance and we would finally have a cloudless sunset a few days ago, I couldn’t wait to run out, (drag my boys with me,) and get a few shots. I had to move quickly, and not just because I was chasing a toddler (although that is always part of it) but because a setting sun doesn’t last very long- these photos were all taken during the 15 minutes just prior to sunset… and then the light was gone.
I already can’t wait to do this again!
I love the light! These are all so pretty but the third from the bottom is my favorite. He looks so happy!
Such gorgeous pictures, I cannot get over his eyes in that first one, what a heartbreaker 🙂
