Are you beginning something new this year? This year I have teamed up with a group of photographers from different parts of the world to participate in a blog circle- once a month we will link our blog posts with the overall common theme of “10 on 10”: 10 photos shared on the 10th of each month. This month we start by sharing our favorite images of 2012. I think this is a perfect way to begin, and one that will give us a nice taste of each photographer’s style and previous work. I am especially excited to see images coming from other cities (New York, London, and Geneva, Switzerland to name a few) and how their backdrops will differ from my own.
This look back on 2012 also coincides with the first anniversary of this blog, which I think has a nice symmetry. As photographers grow, it can be almost painful to look back at our early “work” because we often can only see all the mistakes we made. But it is also wonderful at showing us how we have improved and provides the humbling reminder that we all must start somewhere, regardless of what we are trying to be really great at or what we are trying to achieve. I do not make New Years resolutions, but I do make goals each year. And one goal for 2012 was to begin this blog (which I had been writing in my head for years) which led to launching my business. How different things would be now, one year later, if I had not started “today.” And so it is a new year, with a new list of goals… what do you hope to look back on one year from now and be oh-so-glad that you started today? Here is a look back on my favorites from 2012, and a personal reminder of what starting “today” did for me. |
