Well hello there friends! How have you been? I know it has been awhile… Among all the other parts of daily life, I spent much of June focusing on studying new techniques and making daily shooting a part of my routine (and as it appears, not so much on the blogging of what I have been shooting.) As a result, I fear this little blog of mine has been gathering dust over the past month. However, it works out nicely for me (and my dusty blog) that this month’s upcoming “10 on 10” theme, which will post on July 10th, is quite literally a summary of what the month of June looked like. An opportunity for me to redeem myself to my blog and to you readers. 🙂
In the meantime, I thought I would share a few fun images from this past holiday weekend. There is nothing quite like the firework display we see right from the comfort of our balcony (or, during the years that it was particularly hot or buggy out, from the comfort of our dining room floor.) We have a totally unobstructed view across the entire southern horizon which faces into the neighborhood of Pilsen. After living in our home for nearly seven years, I maintain that no one knows how to put on a fireworks display better than the good people of Pilsen. Individuals across the neighborhood start lighting off fireworks just after sunset and continue to do so well into the early hours of the morning… and although they extend across the entire horizon, some look and feel like they might explode directly over us. These 4th of July fireworks will probably be one of my favorite memories of our years living in this home, and I am so glad that, on our seventh 4th of July here, I finally managed to pull out the tripod and make a few photos of this display! |
These are beautiful Julia! I am so jealous. I so wanted to tackle fireworks this year. But NO… it rained for 5 days straight here. Yes… 5 days!!!! All the neighboring towns canceled with no plans to reschedule. I’m so disappointed. Beautiful job! I was in Chi-town a few weekends ago. Had the best time! I love it!
