Happy Valentine’s Day friends! I hope that whatever you are doing, you are having a lovely day. To be honest, I have never given too much thought to this holiday in the past, but this year C and I were on a mission. I received a surprising number of email in response to my last baking post– I guess quite a few people really couldn’t believe that my kitchen didn’t contain cookie cutters or rolling pins. So I decided to use this opportunity to finally add these items to my (already crammed) kitchen, while also letting my favorite little cook have a shot at making his first batch of cookies. So off we went at the crack of dawn to buy ingredients, a rolling pin, and heart-shaped cookie cutters. It turns out though that the only cookie cutters I could find were in a box containing 30 various shapes (including- you guessed it if have been following these posts- dog bone shaped ones!)- I’m sure that as a result, this will not be our last baking post (and I hope that on that note, I didn’t just loose my three male readers out there.) Connor loves to do anything in the kitchen and is actually really quite helpful:
A whisk is a wonderfully fascinating thing for a toddler:
As is a mixer. (Yes, I own a mixer.) He thought it was HI-larious:
Once the cookies were in the oven it was time to make our Valentine cards. I think in this photo however C was distracted by a train outside:
Happy Valentine’s sweet baby Elle! Sending our love to Hawaii!
Now back to our cookies- it was time to decorate! Anyone who knows Connor will not be surprised to hear that he was just as meticulous about cookie decorating as he is about everything else in his little life. This meant that we spent a long time choosing which toppings were to be placed where and he of course was quite tidy during the whole process:
Our first cookie attempt turned out well! And I must say, they tasted especially good with this pretty cup of Starbucks (look how pretty!) I just love when Starbucks cups get festive:
Beautiful, love this post! And it’s making me want to raid your cookie stash!
Elle got her first valentine in the mail, she loved it (as indicated by the fact that she ate it…?). Happy valentine’s day to the , love you!
